Good evening everyone and welcome to Six Degrees of Ohio on Wadsworth Community Radio 97.1 FM and online if you are one of those kind of internet people and 97.1 FM if you are one of those kind of old school FM radio types which I would imagine that I am probably more of the old school FM radio type so if you are outside of the bounds of Wadsworth area you are probably listening online and all those others hopefully you guys are listening on FM radio because that's just too cool anyway we are probably unwritten by a generous grant from the Medina County Arts Council and this is episode 196 for air date August 16th 2025 and as always I want to make sure that if you guys are tuned in that you are and you find Tom and Tina on the boulevards or the avenues of Wadsworth Ohio you stop them and thank them for the opportunity for us to gather around the radio tubes every Saturday night at 8 p.m. Ohio time and warm our hands warm our hearts warm our feet and warm each other if you got one and if you do have that special someone hope you guys are warming each other and hopefully you guys are making some plans to go back out once the show's over at 9 p.m. and go see what's going on in your local scene and support those guys and support all the art that they make and we have new music this week from Close, Headspace, Akronauts, and Stoneface so I'm going to quit rambling because I got a bird behind me that just keeps tweeting and making noise it's driving me crazy and other than that I'm sure you don't want to hear a bunch of blah blah blah so I'll be back after these important tunes O

And that set featured Close, Unchained Melody, Headspace with Reprise, and Akronauts with Be Careful and Junk in the Trunk. Close is, and I'm not sure if it's close or close because I got it from her on a text message. So I'm not actually sure if she's going by close or close. But that is Akron's Robin Graham, a former singer for the band The Trade. And if you guys were around during the 90s, you will remember The Trade from the Akron days. And they also played all over Cleveland and did that kind of thing. So if you are into the art kind of band stuff, I'm sure you remember The Trade. And we also had Headspace. And this is the first track from Johnny Davidson and his son, their band, Headspace. And if you don't remember Johnny Davidson, that name probably rings a bell from the bands Radium and Stoneface back in the 90s. And I think it goes back to the 90s and before 2000. So it's been a while. And Johnny is one of the guys that played, or the guy that played drums in Stoneface. And we used to hang out with those guys. And I was trying to remember if we played together as Adrenaline Rocket with them or not. I don't remember, but I do remember going to see their shows all the time. And it was always a good time, fun time. And those guys were awesome. And if you guys, I don't know if, where, I guess I'll have to post some links. But if you're interested in drumming and that kind of stuff, you want to check out Johnny's stuff online. Because he's a drum instructor and he has a drum room. And he does a bunch of covers of Rush songs and all kinds of stuff like that. And it's really, as a drummer myself, it's really something that I've always wanted to do. Just never had time to mess with it. Not videotaping, but just actually kind of learn all the songs from back to front. I did that back in the 80s and the 90s. But I wish I could have time to do that now. Maybe at some point in the next couple years, I'll find some spare time and just do that. Sit behind the drum kit and learn some covers. And figure out how some of the masters did it. And go back to that point in time. I don't know. It's awesome. But if you are a drum person and you like that kind of thing, make sure you go check out Johnny's offerings on Facebook. And we also had the Akronauts. And the Akronauts are from Akron, obviously. And if you guys... Well, okay. So tomorrow is Port Trucker. So by the time this airs, Port Trucker will be about... Well, you know what? Okay. So 8 p.m. Akronauts will probably be on the stage over at Port Trucker on Highland Square in Akron. And just in case you guys are not familiar with it, it is a Highland Square thing that they do in Akron where they take a bunch of porches and set up bands. And they go every hour. They switch out. So I think there's 140 bands or more than 140 bands this year. So I still have not made my list of who I'm going to go see. I know I'm going to go see Fritz from Off Leash, his new band, at 11 and Brian Lissick at 12. And I'm not sure who else and what else I'm going to go see. But I'm absolutely going to head out there tomorrow. And I think we're going to the after party over at Musica. So if anybody is listening and they are headed out to the after party, let me know and come find me and we'll hang out. And anyway, so that was Akronauts. And I'm really a big fan of those guys. And I've told a bunch of stories about them in the past. And I probably will in the future too. So I will be back again after these important tunes.

And that set featured Thompson and White with Good Old Days, Radium with Breath, Stoneface with Hole in My Heart, and Blue Herons with Echoes in the Dust, the Melancholia version, and Undertow. And Thompson and White, I have to confess, this week, well, these past few weeks have been horrible for me. Nothing bad, just so much stuff going on, like I have no extra seconds. So I have not gotten to do my usual homework, so I'm not sure about Thompson and White, who they are or where they're from, and I apologize for that, but I will get back to you guys for sure on that with more information.

And Radium and Stoneface, we talked about earlier, two of Johnny Davidson's bands, and the Blue Herons is Gretchen from the Icicles, if you guys remember the Icicles from back in the 90s. The Blue Herons are one of her projects that are hitting it right now, and they are awesome. I wish I could make my way up that way. They're a little bit north and west of us, but we'll see what happens. If they do, do a set of live nights, I'll be out there for sure. I'm going to guarantee that.

So, with all that yapping done, I'm going to go ahead and play some more music, and I'll be back.
